Once again, it seems like just the other day that we were setting our new year’s resolutions at the IRIS offices, and here we are, winding down in the last few weeks of yet another December. Time flies when you’re having fun – and it’s certainly been an action-packed year for us at IRIS. We’ve had some incredible experiences in 2015, and we’d love to share some of our proudest moments with you. In this blog, we’d like to spend a moment talking about one of our biggest deals of the year, and how we managed to land it.
A bit of background to our most inspiring project of 2015
This year, IRIS has had the privilege of working alongside one of the largest Telecommunications, Multimedia and Information Technology companies in Southern Africa. While we can’t reveal any names at the time that this blog goes online, we’ll provide some background to the client: while they mainly operate in South Africa, they have operations in several other African countries, as well as the United Kingdom. This meant that their network system solution needed to cater to a large-scale environment that needs as-close-as-possible to constant up-time, and their WAN performance needed to be second-to-none in order to adequately service their clients in vastly different geographical areas.
The problem: What IRIS needed to solve
One of the most significant problems faced by the client was that they lacked a unified platform from which they could monitor, manage and optimize their network environment. Rather, they were using about four different products, all of which had to be licensed and maintained in order to provide them with the kind of insight they needed into their data. Not only did this present a logistical problem in the sense that different data was being stored in disparate and irreconcilable systems, but the level of strain on the network caused by using multiple network management systems was impeding performance on a global scale. Simply put, the company had access to virtually limitless data, but they were unable to turn this data into actionable information. That’s where IRIS came in.
The solution: How we implemented the IRIS Network Management System
By setting up our IRIS Core Network Management System and IRIS Netflow, we managed to drastically reduce the level of complexity on the client’s systems and install a single, responsive and lightweight Network Management Software solution that is capable of providing the Network Operations Center (NOC) with a wealth of information in an easy-to-understand visual format. Just from looking at a single screen, network managers now have an end-to-end view of the entire infrastructure. Service managers can also more easily share unified reports with their customers, making it easy for both internal and external stakeholders to see the true value that their technological assets are providing.
This was just one of the many inspiring projects that we were privileged enough to be a part of this year with IRIS. If you’d like to find out more about some of our other projects or inquiries about our services, contact us today . Our Network Management System continues to be the software of choice for many of South Africa’s top IT companies, and we don’t plan on slowing down any time soon. We’re sure 2016 will be at least as memorable as 2015 was, and we wish all of our clients and readers a peaceful and safe festive season and new year.
